A Public Event on April 21, 2013 as part of our Participation in the National Victim of Crime Awareness Week 2013.

“WE ALL HAVE A ROLE” was the theme for the 8th annual National Victim of Crime Awareness Week. We invited our team of staff, volunteers and community members to participate in our celebration and volunteer appreciation event on April 21, 2013 in Grouse INN hotel – North Vancouver.

After a presentation covering past years and present inspirations in participating in this significant national awareness week, we managed to acknowledge and show our Appreciation for the team of staff, volunteers, and members who have done enormous work in assisting victims of crime.
We did highlight how each one of us has a role and how we all take our role rightly. By empowering and recognizing each individual’s work and our team efforts, we did create a sense of pride and joy for the future work in the field of victim support.
Thanks to all who attended our very successful event on April 21, 2013, our team explored and discussed “WE ALL HAVE A ROLE” in a close to heart ceremony. Gladly we like to share the power point used for the presentation on this day.

Report: Moving Forward; Public Seminar in North Vancouver BC April 22, 2012

National Victims of Crime Awareness Week 2012: Moving Forward

The National Victims of Crime Awareness Week runs from April 22 -28, 2012. The theme moving forward was chosen for 2012 to acknowledge the journey of each victim of crime, to highlight the work that has been done to give victims a greater voice in the criminal justice system, and to recognize the people who work with victims of crime every day.

In celebrating the rights of victims of crime, Iranian Educators Society for Families (IESF) will for the third year in a row, offer public programs. IESF therefore, acknowledges receiving a generous grant from the Justice Canada, for participating in the seventh annual National Victims of Crime Awareness Week (NVCAW) 2012.

The theme for NVCAW 2012 is: “Moving Forward.” This theme recognizes victim’s right, government initiatives to give victims a more effective voice, and victim services throughout Canada.

Goals for our events are:

Showing support for the victims of crime and of their families,
Raising awareness of the important role victims of crime have in the criminal justice system,
Calling attention to the services and assistance available to victims and their families in your community,
Encouraging idea-sharing and networking within our communities and among victim-support services,
Celebrating and recognizing those who support victims and their families;
And promoting moving forward through hope and empathy, when the victim is ready.

Thus: We would like to invite public to attend two very important seminars that our society offers two cities; in North Vancouver and Coguitlam BC.

National Victims of Crime Awareness Week 2011 Being celebrated here in Vancouver, British Columbia

“Many Voices, Many Paths.” is the theme of this year’s National Victims of Crime Awareness Week, taking place across Canada from April 10 to 16, 2011. Activities across the country will focus on raising awareness of services available to victims of crime in Canada, as well as further exploring new ways to reach out to victims of crime to let them know their experience matters and that there are organizations like Iranian Educators Society for Families looking after them.

“National Victims of Crime Awareness Week is an important event for our community because Our Canadian – Iranian – Farsi speaking communities would benefit from public awareness-raising and with celebration theme offering a sense of appreciation for many voices and many paths. We like to initiate a public celebration by offering food, time for socializing, normalizing, info sharing, and presentation by our speakers emphasizing services open to everyone. This celebration helps empowering individuals to come forward and seek services if they need to.

We like to open the doors to reviewing our understanding while emphasizing on the integrity of all victims. Trauma and victimization among the Iranian Community has no one single format since the structure and definition of respect for human life has changed since long time ago. Celebration of human life and dignity of victims of crime will empower many voices and many paths. This event is public and invites the Farsi-Speaking community residing anywhere in the Greater Vancouver area and the Lower Mainland.

Iranian Educators Society for Families will commemorate the Week with a one evening of celebration occurring in North Vancouver B.C. Detailed information about the location and time will be released soon through a public invitation.

Our celebration is about increasing understanding for people from all different social and cultural backgrounds. We would like to celebrate differences by emphasizing on the respect for diversity in many shapes and many forms. We show sensitivity to diversity and gender by acknowledging how we are all human beings despite of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientations, age, and social status. This is about to say that we are different and it is what makes us unique individuals.
